Building a Healthy Future for Pets & Their Families

Since 1947, the Gulf Coast Humane Society has remained committed to our mission: to be a safe haven for pets in need by providing medical care, promoting adoptions, and nurturing the bond between pets and people in Southwest Florida.

Access to affordable veterinary care is essential to keeping pets healthy and in their homes. As the need continues to grow in our community, the new Gulf Coast Humane Society Veterinary Clinic will serve as a critical resource by offering wellness services, spay/neuter surgeries, dental care, and medical treatment for owned pets.

The expanded clinic will also allow us to continue helping shelter pets who require medical care before they can be adopted, giving them the treatment they need and a chance at a healthy, happy future.

The Growing Need for Affordable Veterinary Services

The Gulf Coast Humane Society does everything we can with the resources we have — but the need for affordable veterinary services continues to grow, and we know we can do even more.

Currently, the average wait time for an appointment is four to five weeks at both our veterinary clinic and our spay/neuter clinic, Reflecting the growing demand for affordable veterinary services in our community. The new Gulf Coast Humane Society Veterinary Clinic will allow us to expand our capacity and provide more comprehensive care on-site. With this added capability, we’ll be able to accept more animals from shelter partners that lack the resources to treat complex medical cases. Once transferred to our shelter, these animals will benefit from the medical treatment they need and have the opportunity to find new homes through our adoption program.

Help Us Double Capacity to Serve Pets

Expanding access to veterinary services will keep more pets healthy, prepare shelter dogs and cats for adoption, and strengthen the bond between pets and people. To meet the growing demand for affordable veterinary services in Southwest Florida, we are launching the Paws for Wellness: Building a Healthier Tomorrow campaign — a bold step toward ensuring more pets receive the care they need by building the new Gulf Coast Humane Society Veterinary Clinic. Spanning over 10,000 sq. ft., the new state-of-the-art medical center will be equipped with the latest veterinary technology, eight spacious exam rooms, and dedicated areas for veterinary specialists, surgical procedures, and more.

One New Clinic Countless Benefits

Doubling Our Impact
We will be able to operate at nearly twice our current capacity for medical procedures, including spay/neuter procedures.

By providing essential medical care before adoption, we ensure that pets go home healthy and ready for their next chapter — saving adopters from unexpected medical expenses and helping more pets stay in their new homes.

By expanding access to affordable veterinary care, we are empowering pet owners with the resources they need, leading to a healthier pet community in Southwest Florida.
Our new clinic will serve as a training hub for future veterinary professionals, providing college externs and high school students with hands-on learning opportunities. Through mentorship and real-world experience, we will equip the next generation of veterinarians and veterinary assistants with the skills they need to excel in animal welfare and community veterinary care.

A state-of-the-art facility will allow us to recruit and retain skilled veterinarians and medical staff, ensuring more pets receive the highest level of care.
